I had a friend who didn't speak too much
'cause his larynx wasn't complete.
All he could do was grunt the whole day long
what meant he wanted to eat.
And although we never spoke in words
we surely understood,
whether the other was having fun or not
we could tell each others mood.

When he was ill I stayed with him all night
and watched him 'til he was fine.
There were days we played with dirt all day,
there were days we drank nothing but wine.
But then this truck came driving to our house
and he took my friend away.
My friend has gone and life just has no sense
I've been nothing since that day.

My father said it was best for him,
that he went to a better place.
But I found that hard to believe
'cause there was a big blood trace.
His ear was cut off of his head
he cried it out so loud.
Even when he was miles away
you could hear him shout.

When they tried to catch him for the truck
all he could do was shit, piss and cry.
He turned around and we caught each others eyes,
he looked at me wondering why.
He looked at me as if I betrayed him
but there was nothing I could do.
So since that day, I've never touched any meat
to pay my debt, why don't you.
